YMCA AQUATICS: America’s Swim Instructor - that is how the YMCA is recognized for its pioneering work in the field of swimming. Home to the world's first filtered pool, and more importantly, the first group Swim Lessons, the YMCA has a long history and excellent reputation of teaching people how to swim.
Pool Locations: The Amarillo Family YMCA offers members 2 pools at 2 different locations; the Midtown Branch and the North Branch.
Water Aerobics (Water Fitness, Water Walking): We offer water exercise classes at different times during the day. This type of exercise is low or high impact, depending on the class, and it’s a great tension reliever.
Lap swimming: There are set times when the pool is only open for lap swimming.
Rentals: The pool is available for rental. It’s great for sports teams, scout groups, church groups and more.
Open Swim (Public Plunge): Open swim is a great time for families to have fun together.
Birthday Parties: The pool is a great place to have your child's next birthday. The cost is $100 for 25 swimmers, you get 2 hours ; 1.5 hours swimming and 30 minutes in the hangout (party area) to have your cake and ice cream and presents. For 25-50 swimmers add $50. Reservations must be made 1 week in advance. Time slots are limited so plan ahead!!
Pool Lift for the Disabled: The Midtown Pool offers a chair lift for those who are disabled and need assistance getting in and out of the pool. The pool temperature is also maintained at 86-88 degrees.
